HOW DO WE GET STARTED WITH THIS WEBSITE?
This website was built in December 2016 as a gift by a man to the woman he loves. The purpose of this that time was to serve as her personal diary to put down all of her thoughts. However, in 2017 and 2018, there were challenges that came where everything seems to be falling apart. At that time, this website had served its purpose. Thus, as founders of this, we have decided to use this website aiming to help and inspire other people especially those who were in their deepest moments. We are inviting you to be part of this by sharing your thoughts as well. We deeply hope that this digital diary be filled with hope, love, inspirational thoughts, memorable experiences, challenges, and lessons in life.
OUR CHALLENGE AND PURPOSE
Since then, it has been a stigma to hear the term ‘weird‘ as it refers to someone or something which seems eccentric or strange. It is commonly associated with the unparalleled status from the norms; making it difficult to accept by many due to its difference which sometimes referred to as crazy, things or thoughts.
The people around us always strive to be in trend and stay at the norms of the society. Because of this, those who think and act differently becomes associated with the term ‘weird’ as they don’t fit with the majority. Sadly, sometimes, these short gap yet big difference leads to harm such as bullying.
In the beginning of this website’s journey, the founders have introduced this to a number of people to see their reactions and feedbacks. It was quite disappointing to hear negative thoughts about the term ‘weirdo‘ or ‘weird’. Upon hearing their reactions, it was a roller coaster feeling of dismay and determination: dismay of the fact that people only accept things or thoughts that are at the norms and determination to prove that weirdness is not a flaw in the society but an innovation of personality.
Despite of this and because of this, in April 2020, the founders had preserved the website’s name Weirdo’s Diary and decided to open this to the public as a blogging/writing platform letting others share their thoughts and perspectives through written words. We hope that through this, we could help those people who cannot speak out their minds be heard by reading their works – opening the minds of the people from the norms that there are others out there, different but not strange.
We believe that those people who think differently from others are the ones who can actually bring difference to the world. Thus, we believe that in the future, the people who have used this website are the ones who will have great impacts to the world.
